Citroen C3 - Front Bumper

Citroen C3

Fast Moving

Front Bumper for C3 hatchback

By some margin the most common Citroen on South African roads. The C3 spans the French-built cars sold here before 2016 and the India-built PureTech model that relaunched the brand locally, so suspension bushes, body panels and 1.2 three-cylinder engine parts are our fastest-moving lines.

Citroen C4 - Front Bumper

Citroen C4

Fast Moving

Front Bumper for C4 hatchback

The 2004-2010 C4 hatch and saloon sold steadily here and a good number are still running. Owners come to us mostly for EP6 petrol ancillaries, suspension components and the electrical modules that give trouble as these cars age.

Citroen C3 Aircross - Front Bumper

Citroen C3 Aircross

Fast Moving

Front Bumper for C3 Aircross crossover

Launched here in the 2019 relaunch and now old enough to need parts. The tall, boxy crossover body means bumpers, lights and roof fittings are common requests alongside the usual PureTech service items.

Citroen DS3 - Front Bumper

Citroen DS3

Fast Moving

Front Bumper for DS3 hatchback

Sold as a Citroen here before DS split into its own marque, the DS3 is a premium supermini with a strong following. The 1.6 THP turbo cars in particular keep us busy with timing chain kits, turbo parts and trim pieces that are hard to find new.

Citroen C4 Cactus - Front Bumper

Citroen C4 Cactus

Fast Moving

Front Bumper for C4 Cactus crossover

A 2016 South African Car of the Year finalist that arrived just as Citroen was leaving the market, so the local run was short. Those distinctive ribbed Airbump side panels are the single most requested body part we handle for it.

Front Bumper for C2 hatchback

A small three-door city car from the mid-2000s. Survivors are thin on the ground now, which is exactly why owners struggle to find parts through normal channels and end up phoning us.

Front Bumper for Berlingo van

The long-running Berlingo panel van and leisure activity vehicle did steady trade work in South Africa. Hard-working vehicles wear out clutches, suspension and sliding-door gear, and diesel owners come to us for HDi injection and turbo parts.

What Are Front Bumper?

What everyone calls the front bumper is really the bumper cover β€” a painted plastic moulding over the actual impact structure, which is a reinforcement beam and crush cans behind it. That distinction decides how a repair goes. A cover absorbs car-park knocks and shrugs off small impacts by flexing. Once the damage reaches the beam behind it, you are into structural work. On the C2, C3, C5 Aircross, Xsara and C3 Aircross the cover is colour-coded and carries model-specific cut-outs for fog lamps, parking sensors and grilles, which is why a cover from a different trim of the same model will not simply bolt on.

Signs You Need New Front Bumper

A crack, split or tear from a parking knock or a kerb
Paint lifting, peeling or flaking away from the plastic underneath
A damaged or missing grille section or fog lamp surround
Parking sensors pushed out of their housings or no longer reading
The cover sagging at one end where the clips have pulled out of the fender
Colour that no longer matches the wings after an earlier respray

Common Questions About Front Bumper

How much does a Citroen front bumper cost in South Africa?

The used market here is genuinely strong for these, which is where most owners should start. Our network carries covers across the C1, C2 and C3 range and stock turns over regularly, and new aftermarket covers for the C3 and C3 Aircross are widely available. Send the VIN and, importantly, the paint code from the plate under the bonnet β€” a used cover in your exact colour saves the respray entirely.

How much does it cost to replace a Citroen front bumper?

The cover itself varies enormously between used, aftermarket and genuine. Fitting is two to three hours, and then there is the paint, which is usually the larger number. Where owners get caught out is the extras: fog lamps, grilles, parking sensors and the clips are frequently not included with a bare cover. Send the VIN and a photo of the damage and we will quote the complete set of what you actually need.

Can a damaged Citroen bumper be repaired instead of replaced?

Frequently, yes. Plastic bumper covers can be plastic-welded from behind, filled and resprayed, and a good panel shop will make a crack or a deep scuff disappear for well under the cost of a replacement. Where repair stops making sense is a long tear, mangled mounting tabs, or damage around the sensor housings β€” those points carry load or need dimensional accuracy, and a filled repair there tends to come back.

Why is my Citroen bumper paint peeling or fading?

It is a known complaint across the range and the cause is adhesion rather than the top coat. Plastic needs an adhesion promoter and a flexible primer before colour, and where that layer was thin from the factory the paint eventually lets go in sheets rather than fading gradually. Our sun accelerates it. The fix is to strip back to bare plastic and rebuild the layers properly β€” a quick respray over the failing primer will lift again within a year or two.

Do I need to respray a replacement Citroen bumper?

Usually, unless you have found a used cover in your exact paint code, which is worth hunting for. New aftermarket covers arrive in primer and always need painting. Be aware that pearl whites and the metallic greys common on South African Citroens are among the harder colours to match, because they are multi-stage finishes rather than a single coat β€” use a shop that will blend into the adjacent panels rather than spraying the cover alone.
