Citroen C3 - Interior Lights

Citroen C3

Fast Moving

Interior Lights for C3 hatchback

By some margin the most common Citroen on South African roads. The C3 spans the French-built cars sold here before 2016 and the India-built PureTech model that relaunched the brand locally, so suspension bushes, body panels and 1.2 three-cylinder engine parts are our fastest-moving lines.

Citroen C4 - Interior Lights

Citroen C4

Fast Moving

Interior Lights for C4 hatchback

The 2004-2010 C4 hatch and saloon sold steadily here and a good number are still running. Owners come to us mostly for EP6 petrol ancillaries, suspension components and the electrical modules that give trouble as these cars age.

Citroen C3 Aircross - Interior Lights

Citroen C3 Aircross

Fast Moving

Interior Lights for C3 Aircross crossover

Launched here in the 2019 relaunch and now old enough to need parts. The tall, boxy crossover body means bumpers, lights and roof fittings are common requests alongside the usual PureTech service items.

Citroen DS3 - Interior Lights

Citroen DS3

Fast Moving

Interior Lights for DS3 hatchback

Sold as a Citroen here before DS split into its own marque, the DS3 is a premium supermini with a strong following. The 1.6 THP turbo cars in particular keep us busy with timing chain kits, turbo parts and trim pieces that are hard to find new.

Citroen C4 Cactus - Interior Lights

Citroen C4 Cactus

Fast Moving

Interior Lights for C4 Cactus crossover

A 2016 South African Car of the Year finalist that arrived just as Citroen was leaving the market, so the local run was short. Those distinctive ribbed Airbump side panels are the single most requested body part we handle for it.

Citroen C2 - Interior Lights

Citroen C2

Fast Moving

Interior Lights for C2 hatchback

A small three-door city car from the mid-2000s. Survivors are thin on the ground now, which is exactly why owners struggle to find parts through normal channels and end up phoning us.

Citroen Berlingo - Interior Lights

Interior Lights for Berlingo van

The long-running Berlingo panel van and leisure activity vehicle did steady trade work in South Africa. Hard-working vehicles wear out clutches, suspension and sliding-door gear, and diesel owners come to us for HDi injection and turbo parts.

Citroen C1 - Interior Lights

Citroen C1

Interior Lights for C1 hatchback

A tiny city car sold here in small numbers. Low volume means franchised parts support dried up quickly, so used and aftermarket components are usually the only realistic route.

Citroen C4 Picasso - Interior Lights

Citroen C4 Picasso

Interior Lights for C4 Picasso mpv

A five-seat MPV with a panoramic windscreen and a lot of glass, which is where most enquiries start. The 2.0 HDi cars also bring steady demand for DPF, EGR and injection parts.

What Are Interior Lights?

The cabin lighting circuit covers the roof console, the courtesy lamps, the glovebox and the boot, and on a Citroen it does not simply run off a switch — the BSI manages it. That is why the lights fade out gradually rather than snapping off, why they come on when you unlock the car, and why they eventually switch themselves off if a door is left ajar. On most models fuse F7 feeds the front and rear roof lamps plus the glovebox, with F9 covering the remaining interior lighting, so a whole cluster going dark at once usually traces back to a single fuse rather than to several failed bulbs.

Signs You Need New Interior Lights

The roof lamp staying dark when a door is opened
One lamp out while the rest of the cabin lighting still works
Lights dimming heavily or flickering while the engine cranks
The boot lamp staying lit after the tailgate is shut
Courtesy lights that will not extinguish and flatten the battery overnight
A hot plastic smell from the roof console

Common Questions About Interior Lights

Why are my Citroen interior lights not working?

In most cases it is the F7 or F9 fuse, a blown festoon bulb, or a door switch stuck in the closed position so the car believes every door is shut. Check the fuse first because it costs nothing to look. On the Xsara and C3 Aircross there is one more possibility worth knowing: the BSI shunt fuse, which is deliberately pulled during transport and storage, determines whether the cabin lighting wakes at all.

How much does it cost to replace a Citroen interior light bulb?

A festoon or wedge bulb is R50 to R200 at any parts counter, and fitting one is a ten-minute job at a workshop or a five-minute one at home. A complete roof console cluster through Pro Citroen Spares typically lands at R300 to R900 used, which is the route to take when the lens has broken or the switch inside the unit has failed rather than the bulb.

Which fuse controls the interior lights on a Citroen?

On most C3, Xsara and C3 Aircross models, F7 feeds the front and rear roof lamps and the glovebox light, while F9 covers the remaining interior lighting. Check the diagram inside your own fuse box lid rather than relying on that, because the allocation changed across model years. Separately, the BSI shunt fuse controls whether the whole cabin lighting system stays armed when the car is left standing.

How do I change a dome light in a Citroen?

Find the notch moulded into one edge of the lens and ease a plastic trim tool into it — the lens unclips rather than unscrews. Pull the festoon or wedge bulb straight out, fit the replacement without touching the glass with bare fingers, and press the lens back until it clicks. A plastic trim stick is the only tool needed; a screwdriver will mark the lens permanently on the first attempt.

Where can I buy Citroen interior lights in South Africa?

Pro Citroen Spares stocks roof consoles, boot lamps and courtesy lights for the C3, Xsara, C3 Aircross and C5 Aircross, and our supplier network carries bulbs and LED replacements. If you are fitting LEDs, mention it — on some models the BSI monitors current draw on these circuits too, and a very low-draw LED can read as an open circuit. Send the model year for a quote.
