Citroen C3 - Taillights

Citroen C3

Fast Moving

Taillights for C3 hatchback

By some margin the most common Citroen on South African roads. The C3 spans the French-built cars sold here before 2016 and the India-built PureTech model that relaunched the brand locally, so suspension bushes, body panels and 1.2 three-cylinder engine parts are our fastest-moving lines.

Citroen C4 - Taillights

Citroen C4

Fast Moving

Taillights for C4 hatchback

The 2004-2010 C4 hatch and saloon sold steadily here and a good number are still running. Owners come to us mostly for EP6 petrol ancillaries, suspension components and the electrical modules that give trouble as these cars age.

Citroen C3 Aircross - Taillights

Citroen C3 Aircross

Fast Moving

Taillights for C3 Aircross crossover

Launched here in the 2019 relaunch and now old enough to need parts. The tall, boxy crossover body means bumpers, lights and roof fittings are common requests alongside the usual PureTech service items.

Citroen DS3 - Taillights

Citroen DS3

Fast Moving

Taillights for DS3 hatchback

Sold as a Citroen here before DS split into its own marque, the DS3 is a premium supermini with a strong following. The 1.6 THP turbo cars in particular keep us busy with timing chain kits, turbo parts and trim pieces that are hard to find new.

Citroen C4 Cactus

Fast Moving

Taillights for C4 Cactus crossover

A 2016 South African Car of the Year finalist that arrived just as Citroen was leaving the market, so the local run was short. Those distinctive ribbed Airbump side panels are the single most requested body part we handle for it.

Taillights for C2 hatchback

A small three-door city car from the mid-2000s. Survivors are thin on the ground now, which is exactly why owners struggle to find parts through normal channels and end up phoning us.

Taillights for Berlingo van

The long-running Berlingo panel van and leisure activity vehicle did steady trade work in South Africa. Hard-working vehicles wear out clutches, suspension and sliding-door gear, and diesel owners come to us for HDi injection and turbo parts.

What Are Taillights?

A rear light cluster combines four functions in one housing β€” brake, tail, indicator and reverse β€” and how it is built decides how it is repaired. Older Citroens use conventional bulbs in a serviceable housing, so a failure means a bulb or a corroded socket and costs almost nothing. Later cars use LED clusters where the diodes are soldered to a sealed board, and when part of that board fails there is nothing to replace inside it. The other thing worth knowing applies to both: every cluster has a vent, because the lamp heats the air inside it, and a blocked vent or a perished gasket is how water gets in.

Signs You Need New Taillights

A tail or brake lamp out while the others still work
Condensation misting the lens, or standing water in the bottom of it
Dark patches or missing sections in an LED cluster
An indicator flashing fast on that side, meaning a lamp is not drawing current
A cracked lens from a parking knock
A fuse on the rear light circuit blowing repeatedly

Common Questions About Taillights

How much does a Citroen taillight cost to replace?

Used clusters from South African strippers are a fraction of new pricing β€” sometimes as little as a tenth. Ask through our form with the model, year and body style, and be specific about all three: LED and bulb versions differ, and facelift clusters carry different part numbers within the same generation while looking nearly identical in a photograph.

Why is moisture getting inside my Citroen taillight?

Either the gasket between the lens and the body has perished, or the vent that lets the housing breathe has blocked. A light misting that clears in sunshine is normal and not worth chasing. Standing water pooling in the bottom of the lens is not β€” it corrodes the bulb sockets and, on LED units, the circuit board, turning a gasket job into a cluster replacement.

Can I repair a Citroen LED taillight or do I need to replace the whole unit?

Most Citroen LED clusters are sealed assemblies with the diodes soldered to a board and no serviceable parts inside, so a failure means a complete cluster. A handful of specialists do board-level LED repairs on the newer models, and it is worth a phone call β€” but be realistic, because the labour often lands close to what a good used cluster costs.

Why are my Citroen tail lights not working but brake lights are?

The two functions run on separate circuits even when they share a bulb, so this narrows things down quickly. It is usually a corroded socket on the running-light contact, a bad earth behind the panel, or a blown fuse on that specific circuit. We check the earth point first β€” a dirty earth is the single most common rear lighting fault we see on these cars.

Where can I buy a used Citroen C3 taillight in South Africa?

Through our supplier network nationwide. Send the year, the body style and which side you need. One useful thing to know: taillights do not differ between left and right-hand-drive cars, so a unit from a European donor fits β€” but facelift revisions do change them, so the VIN is what confirms fitment rather than the model year alone.
