Unclip the triangular trim at the mirror corner first, then take out the screws behind the door pull and inside the armrest recess — there is nearly always one under a small cap. Lift the card upward off the window ledge rather than pulling it outward. Then disconnect the switch loom and unhook the interior handle cable gently: pulling on that cable is what snaps the plastic end fitting, every time.

The linkage between the exterior handle and the latch has come adrift or broken — either the rod has unclipped from its plastic socket or the Bowden cable has snapped. We see it constantly on the C2 and Xsara. The card has to come off to inspect it, and once it is off the fix is usually either reclipping the rod or fitting a new cable, neither of which is expensive.
