Citroen C4 Aircross Body Parts: Buy Genuine & Aftermarket Parts

There are two families. Outer panels are the ones you touch — doors, fenders, bonnet, boot — and on models like the C5 Aircross or C5 they are bolt-on items that typically run R2,500 to R8,500 each. Inner panels are part of the chassis structure, and those are cut-and-weld work rather than unbolt-and-replace. Both protect the mechanical parts and the people inside; only one of them is a straightforward swap, which is the difference that decides what a repair costs.

Start with the gaps. Uneven spacing between a door and a fender, or a boot that no longer shuts cleanly, usually means an impact has moved something structural rather than just dented a skin. Then look at the edges — rust bubbles around arches and sills come up quickly on coastal cars, and UV takes the clear coat off horizontal surfaces first. Panel beating typically runs R800 to R3,500 depending on how far the metal has moved, while replacing a panel outright is R2,500 to R12,000.

Front and rear doors, bonnet, boot lid or tailgate, front and rear fenders (mudguards to most South Africans), bumpers, roof panel and the quarter panels aft of the rear doors. Below the doors are the sills; the A, B and C pillars tie the roof to the body; and the valances sit under the bumpers. A Xsara adds side skirts and separate mirror housings, which are the parts people forget to price until the quote comes back.

The spread is wide — R1,800 for something small like a mirror cover, up to R15,000 for a bonnet or door on a C3 Aircross or C5 Aircross. Aftermarket panels undercut that by 30-50%, with the trade-off showing up in fitment tolerance and, sometimes, in an insurance assessment. Budget separately for the work: fitting adds R1,200 to R4,500, and a properly colour-matched respray with primer and clear coat another R2,500 to R6,000. Good used original panels often beat both on value, which is where we spend most of our time.

If the paint is intact and the dent is shallow, paintless dent removal is the cheapest route at R500 to R1,500 a panel, and it keeps the factory finish. Once the paint has broken you are into conventional work — beat, fill, sand, prime, respray — at R2,500 to R5,000 a panel. Anything with a sharp crease through it, or where the metal has stretched, is better replaced than repaired. A filled crease in our climate will crack and then rust, and you pay twice.
